Summary: After the events of DPPt, Cynthia and Dawn are in a relationship. Typical relationship stuff happens.
A few years had passed since Cynthia had first met that one trainer with the beautiful, powerful eyes, but even now she could hardly believe that that girl would go on to save Sinnoh, defeat her, and in the process capture her heart. Cynthia had a good eye for trainers, but Dawn had surpassed her expectations in every way. Even to this day, the thought of spending time with the girl--whether it be casual conversation, adventuring, or battling--left the woman giddy.
Today was particularly exciting. Though Cynthia's adventures around the globe were often done alone for one reason or another, this one time she was able to bring Dawn along. They arrived late today at the seaside villa Cynthia always borrowed from Caitlin and they had all the time in the world ahead of them to enjoy it. Today had been spent mostly packing, traveling, and unpacking, so it was already dusk by the time they were able to relax.
In spite of all that, Cynthia was still overflowing with energy, do doubt in part due to feeding off Dawn's own. This was Dawn's first visit to a region outside of Sinnoh and Cynthia could hardly relax as she thought of all the things her girlfriend would be experiencing for the first time. It would be like experiencing it all for the first time all over again for herself.
But tonight would be a night to relax--or at least that was the plan. For now, Cynthia sat in a chair on the patio of the villa with a glass of wine beside her on the table. She looked over to Dawn after a moment of quiet.
"I was afraid we may miss the sunset. That would have been a tragedy."
Off on the beach and the rest of the estate, Garchomp and several of Cynthia's other Pokemon were roaming around enjoying themselves in their own way.

At times she wondered if Cynthia was just playing along with her. Not necessarily in a cruel way, but just as a result of her age. Still! Dawn could do mature too. Mature and charming, like Cynthia herself.
Hopefully.
She'll start by taking a glass and trying her best to uncork the wine. And--and failing. What sorcery was this? She tries not to sweat and keeps up her fixed smile. "Re... relaxing, right! We deserve a break after all of that. If anyone deserves a load off, it's definitely you." Winning smile at! Cynthia's research, keeping her so busy when all her girlfriend wanted was to have her for herself. She's not spoiled, really. Probably.

Such as that wine bottle. She has faith in Dawn. She believes the girl will get that cork out.
"Hmm. It's so easy to run about on our adventures and forget to stop to smell the flowers." She nods. Yes, an uneventful evening alone with Dawn is all she needs--no running in tall grass or other adventures needed today. "Unova can wait until tomorrow to take your attention from me."
sorry for late tag...!
Luckily for them both, she's still a little occupied with that.
However, she's still free enough to sidle over and peck Cynthia fondly on the cheek, attention briefly distracted from the drink for now. She's still a growing girl, so luckily kissing Cynthia was never the embarrassing massive height-difference affair it was once, though she still has to rise to her tip-toes somewhat to accomplish this.
"Smell the flowers?" She grins and teasingly sniffs Cynthia's cheek. "But you're the prettiest flower I know, Cynthia!" ... She tries. She tries quite hard to be a decent flirt. On rare occasion it might even work.
it's okay!
Her calm and cool demeanor breaks. Dawn's comment leaves her silent and agape for a moment before letting out a squeal. Cynthia wraps her arms around Dawn waits and pulls her up into a hug. She giggles the entire time. It is impossible for her to resist such a corny but genuine compliment.
"If I am, that's only because you brighten up my life, Dawn." See, she could be just as lame.

Not that she's complaining at all.

She glances at the bottle. "Having some trouble?" Dawn ran out of time to get that cork out. Now Cynthia needs to decide whether to either help or be responsible.
no subject
... Speaking of maturity, though.
She frowns down at the bottle in her hands. For all her prowess in battle, to be defeated against wine...! It's unacceptable. "Is there a trick to it?" She feels embarrassed even asking, honestly.
no subject
And one thing she will certainly never tease Dawn about is her inexperience. "Trying to work it out with only your bare hands is much too difficult." Cynthia quietly pulls a corkscrew from a pocket and places it in one of the girl's palms. "Use this."
She could do it herself, easily, but she does not want to take the victory from Dawn. A simple screw and a firm pull should be enough...although even that may take some strength. But if Dawn still struggles, then Cynthia is here to help.

With only a minimum of difficulty, and a small squeak when a bit of the drink bubbles out. Maybe it's champagne. Dawn quickly sets the bottle on the table, licking her fingertips. "T-there we go! Ahaha... cheers?" Are there more glasses?
no subject
To prove that point, she takes a step into the villa only to come right out with a glass matching her own. She offers to exchange the glass for the bottle, intending to fill it for Dawn.
no subject
Let's just. Put down all three items on the table, happily without sending anything crashing. Dawn waves off the attempt to help and pours a refill for Cynthia and the glass for herself with a minimum of spillage.
Whew.
"I wouldn't turn down the chance to travel with you more, Cynthia!" Hint hint. She beams up at the older woman, however, then examines her drink and the bottle. "Soo... um, what year is this?"
no subject
...It is Caitlin's villa, after all. Between Cynthia's disregard for the Elite Four member's belongings (in her defense, Caitlin likely left it for exactly this reason) and her indifference, she and Dawn's levels of maturity are obviously not as different than the younger one may think.
no subject
"I... I have a villa too, you know." She says, totally casually. And kind of totally unnecessarily, of course Cynthia knows her villa. She's been over a few times and played the piano. She kind of realizes this herself and just clears her throat to cover up the gaffe and sips her wine. "I'm surprised she drinks, I thought she might be a little--" Stuck-up, she's about to say, but she frowns. No, she does like Caitlin! She can't be that jealous. "A little... kind of a lightweight?"
no subject
Cynthia sees right through Dawn's insecurity and smiles. "I doubt she drinks, but who knows? After all, it takes many meetings to truly know a person and she is a private one." Thinking on it more, this bottle had definitely been a gift: given from Caitlin to Cynthia after learning Dawn would be here. Caitlin is certainly a reserved person and this would be her way of showing kindness without having to say a word.
"I think you would like her given a bit more time." She gives Dawn a wink. She thinks a little jealousy is cute.
no subject
... Could she try to give this jealousy thing a try? Dawn swirls her glass in what she imagines is an elegant way. "I do like her. She's really pretty, right?" And she actually has to refrain from saying 'not as pretty as you, Cynthia' like some lovestruck girl. Which she admittedly is.
She sips her drink, resisting the urge to make a bit of a face--she hasn't quite acquired the taste for alcohol yet--and glances slyly over at Cynthia to observe her reaction in what she imagines is a very sneaky and casual manner.
no subject
"She is, isn't she? She gives some support to the idea of 'beauty sleep'." Caitlin likes nothing more than naps, after all...even her Elite Four chamber has a bed.
Cynthia so very casually takes a drink herself, showing absolutely no sign of being bothered. Dawn should know better than to expect such an obvious ploy to work on Cynthia.
no subject
Look at this perfect logic right here.
She downs her entire glass in pride over how great her master plan is.
no subject
"I don't think you need a bit of sleep." What would someone as pretty and cute as Dawn need with beauty sleep? "But even so, I'm not opposed to that suggestion at all."
no subject
Well then. She grins and flashes a victory sign. "Then it's decided! Let's have a sleepover. The bed's big enough for two, right? It'll be great!"
no subject
A part of her does wonder if she is getting played here. Could Dawn be this naive or is she pulling Cynthia along? No, Dawn is too earnest. But even so, this has sent Cynthia's imagination down certain paths she had not intended.
"Well, of course. The whole point of this trip is to keep close, isn't it? It only feels appropriate to share a bed."
no subject
... She's trying not to be immature about this, honest. Immaturity is a tough habit. It takes time to grow out of. Dawn celebrates this small victory by pouring herself another glass, beaming. Tonight will be fun~
"Anyway." Sleeping arrangements aside. "What's the itinerary for tomorrow? Can we visit the beach?" She may or may not already be picturing themselves in swimsuits.
no subject
She nods slowly. "A trip to the beach it is. Ah, but...I will need help. I can never decide on a swimsuit, so I will leave the decision up to you." If Dawn wasn't thinking about that before, Cynthia is trying to make sure she is now.
no subject
Yes. Yes she was.
"Well, that's fine." Dawn flashes a victory sign. "Luckily for you, I'm an expert in judging the cutest swimsuits around." Wink!... Hopefully cute and flirty wink. "I'll definitely pick the best look for you, Cynthia!"
no subject
Although she may turn out to have an even harder time choosing something for Dawn than for herself...
"But that won't be until tomorrow. We still have the rest of an evening ahead of us." Unless Dawn wants to head to bed together early.
no subject
She pours herself another glass. Surely alcohol will stimulate the creative juices. "Um--! Maybe we can watch a movie together? Or go star-watching! If Caitlin has a telescope." ... Dawn isn't actually sure if she knows any constellations, honestly, but. Stars! Stars are romantic! She beams up at Cynthia. "What do you think? Or is there something you'd like to do?"
no subject
"We've come all this way only to sit around the villa." She grabs Dawn by the hand and bolts off towards the beach. A starlit walk along the beach is just what this night needs before they return to the villa for bed.
no subject
... She's still clutching her wineglass though, and downs the rest of her drink while absentmindedly placing it at the rail to pick up later as they leave the villa grounds.
"Where are we going?" she hasn't quite connected the dots to long walks on the beach yet.
no subject
She smiles, then gives a puzzled look. Something about saying her thoughts out loud made her realize something a bit odd. "I hope that isn't too cliche for your tastes, Dawn."
no subject
"No, that sounds great!" Dawn squeezes Cynthia's hand back, beaming. Maybe there'll even be schools of luvdisc offshore. How romantic would that be. "They're cliches for a reason. Because they work!" Her heart is definitely captured, anyway.
"We can watch the sun set, huh?"
no subject
"The sun set, then the stars." After a moment, she frowns. "Though, I may have a difficult time paying attention to either."
no subject
sorry for being so late! i've been sick for the last 2+ weeks. sorry!
She flashes Dawn a goofy grin. "How can the sun or the stars keep my attention when I have you around?" Perhaps her skills in romance are restricted to being corny, in spite of her cool and elegant exterior.
It was the truth, though. She has spent enough time looking at the stars and has seen a hundred sunsets, but she feels she could never grow tired looking at Dawn.
it's cool \o\
That's waaaay too embarrassing and cheesy!! And yet it undoubtedly was a critical hit straight to her maiden's heart. She could feel her face reddening furiously and tries stammering a reply for a moment, looking and sounding and feeling ridiculous and ridiculously pleased. "W-w-well, that's! That's definitely mutual! I'd rather watch you than a sunset, anyday!" ... She runs that last sentence in her mind again. "Not in a creepy way, but--!" You know what she means.
no subject
"Haha. Makes me wonder why we are bothering with the sunset at all." So long as she is with Dawn, anything else she is doing is secondary. This sunset and star gazing is all background noise.
"You can watch me all you like. Not in a creepy way." She gives Dawn a wink.
